Terms of use

The rules for using the PassRoutes app and this website.

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Draft. PassRoutes has not launched yet. This page describes how the app is built to work and will be completed before the app is released.

The short version

  • PassRoutes is a practice aid. It is independent and is not part of the RSA.
  • You are always responsible for driving safely and legally. The road comes before the app.
  • A pass lasts 90 days and does not renew.
  • Only share recordings of drives you did yourself.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and ITSS (IT Sols and Services) (“we”, “us”). By using the app or this website you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What PassRoutes is

PassRoutes helps learner drivers get to know the roads around driving test centres in Ireland. It is independent. It is not affiliated with, or approved by, the Road Safety Authority (RSA).

Routes in the app are recorded by driving instructors and learners. They are not official test routes. The tester chooses the route on the day, so your test may be different. Using PassRoutes does not guarantee that you will pass.

3. Driving safely and legally

You are responsible for how you drive. When you use the app in a car:

  • Follow the Rules of the Road, road signs, road markings and the directions of An Garda Síochána.
  • If you hold a learner permit, drive only with a qualified accompanying driver, as the law requires.
  • Keep the phone in a holder. Do not touch or read it while driving.
  • If the app and the road disagree, follow the road. Roads, signs and speed limits change, and the app can be wrong.
  • Do not follow a direction if it would be unsafe or against the law.

4. Free features and passes

  • Guided drives on Route 1 at every test centre are free. Preview drives, written directions and test prep are free.
  • A Centre Pass unlocks guided drives on every route at one test centre. A 3 Centres Pass does the same for three test centres that you choose when you buy it.
  • A pass lasts 90 days from the day you buy it. It does not renew by itself.
  • The test centres of a pass are the ones you choose when you buy it. They cannot be changed afterwards.
  • Passes are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The price is shown before you pay. Payment and refunds are handled by the store under its own rules. If the store refunds a pass, the pass ends.
  • A pass belongs to the store account that bought it. On a new phone, sign in to the same store account and tap Restore in the app. The app needs an internet connection to confirm a pass.
  • Routes can change or be removed while your pass is active, for example when a road changes.

Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have as a consumer under Irish and EU law.

5. Recordings you share

If you send us a recording or a problem report:

  • It stays yours. You give us permission to use it, free of charge, to create, check, improve and publish routes in PassRoutes.
  • You confirm that you made the drive yourself, and that it is not copied from another app, website or video.
  • We check recordings before using them, and we may decide not to use one.
  • You can ask us to delete a recording you sent. Routes that were already published from several drives may stay.

Recording your driving test: the tester’s instructions always come first. If you are told that recording devices are not allowed, or to switch your phone off, do so and do not record. Set the phone to silent and put it away before the test starts.

6. Fair use

You may use the app for your own practice and, if you are an instructor, with your own pupils. You may not:

  • copy, collect or resell the routes or other content of the app;
  • use the app to build a competing product;
  • try to break, overload or get around the app’s protections;
  • send us recordings or reports that you know are false.

7. Who owns what

The app, its routes and its text belong to us or to those who licensed them to us. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. Test centre statistics come from the Central Statistics Office and the RSA and are used under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

8. Changes to the app

We may add, change or remove routes and features, and we may update these terms. If we change the terms in an important way, we will say so in the app or on this page.

9. Our responsibility to you

We take reasonable care to make the app accurate and useful, but we cannot promise that every route or direction is correct or up to date, or that the app will always be available.

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses caused by using the app in a way these terms tell you not to, or by things outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending

You can stop using PassRoutes at any time by deleting the app. We may stop your access if you seriously break these terms.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts can hear any dispute. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of that country.

12. Contact

Send us a message with the contact form. See also our privacy policy.
